Near the beach, on the river Spaarne, is Haarlem with its many monumental buildings and beautiful old squares. You can enjoy wandering through small streets along historic buildings of architect Lieven de Key. You can visit special museums such as the Frans Hals Museum or Teylers Museum and enjoy the many nice cafes and restaurants. It is not for nothing that Haarlem is called the most Flemish city of the north.
